Sponge at Crossroad
This urban design concept reimagines Sydney’s Waterloo district during a wave of renewal. Using the metaphor of a “sponge,” the project proposes a network of spaces that absorb and release people, ideas, and resources to balance pressures of density, capital, and social change. The strategy envisions adaptable urban systems that support both growth and reflection, offering residents opportunities to engage with the city’s evolving future while sustaining a resilient urban ecosystem.
